Sarah's 2002 Chicago Marathon Training Log



I finished the marathon on October 13, 2002 with a time of 4:19:12, which is 26 minutes faster than last year!

I just don't remember the details of my training any more. I should have trained more, but that's all I remember. I'm just happy to have finished it! Maybe next year I'll be more detailed. I would really love to run the marathon in Rome, Italy, but that's in March and I'm not sure about the expense of traveling there! Someday, though I would love to run marathons all over the world. ;)

7/21: 0 -- nuthin... off to a GREAT start!

7/27: 7 -- okay, made up the big mileage here!
7/28: 0 -- "day off"... yeah, like what was last week then?
7/29: 0 -- lazy, lazy
7/30: 0 -- okay, I was up till 3:30AM finishing a website. :)
7/31: 0 -- it is way hot... tomorrow we leave for Kentucky where it is ... cooler?
Total Miles for the Month: 12 (12/43) = 28% Nice!

Well, okay, so it wasn't very nice... but hey-- we're moving. And we're finishng classes and enrolling in different Universities and going on vacation. What do you want? Things should definately get easier in the coming months. Stay tuned...

8/2: 4 -- Hot and hilly in Tennesse!  John's gut was hurting, too!

8/5: 0 -- Very, very hot -- made it about 10 feet out the door!
8/6: 3 -- Cool, mild weather.  More days like this and we will be back with it in no time!
8/7: 0 -- Busy working!
8/8: 0 -- Ummm... still working!
8/9: 3.5 -- Very fast-- very cool out.
8/10: 5 -- 3 days in a row!  Nice!
8/11: 0 -- Pack!  Pack!  Pack!

8/24: Biked 37 miles. It was gorgeous, my bum only hurts a little. ;) 8/25: 0 -- Recovering from the bike ride. 8/26: 0 -- No excuse, just lazy on a Monday morning. 8/27: 6 -- Nice and cool. 8/28: 5 -- Yes, I should have done 10, I'm still scared of doing 10 on Missouri hills. 8/29: 6 -- This seems to be my average. 8/30: 6 -- Just another 6. 8/31: 10 -- That's good to make up some of it anyway.

9/1:  4 -- I was a campout, any excuse will do not to run enough. :)
9/2:  0 -- Didn't run, visiting my favorite person.
9/3:  6 -- Feeling very sick today, so I don't know
9/4:  6 -- I wimped out on the 11 miles.
9/5:  6 -- The hills are better, but I'm still not used to them.  
Sometimes I really miss flat Illinois.
9/6:  6 -- Nice and cool
9/7:  Biked 74 miles!  This is is the longest I have ever
9/8:  0 -- Off, that bicycle ride was a lot!
9/9:  6 -- Why didn't I do 7 like I was supposed to?  I don't know
9/10: 6 -- Cool enough, but those Missouri hills!
9/11: 6 -- Nice and cool again.  At some point I need to just do that 11 
miles I've been putting off. :(
9/12: 6 -- 51 degrees F, wow, days like this were made for running.  
Unfortunately, I woke up late so I was unable to run a long run (yeah, 
right you say).  I am just resigned to pushing my high miles off until 
Saturday. ;)
9/13: 6 -- What can I say, I keep finding excuses to not run the 13 miles. 
:)
9/14: 0 -- John and I are bad influences on each other. ;)
9/15: 3 -- John's gut was hurting so we quit early.
9/16: 0 -- Hopefully, this will be my only day off this week.
9/17: 6.1 -- It was fun to run in the rain today!
